If you or someone in your family has a criminal court case in Cook County here’s what you should know.
If you are charged with a criminal offense, you will be required to appear in court for any hearings or proceedings, including status dates.
If you are on pretrial release, you have received an Order-Conditions of Pretrial Release. The date and location of your next required court appearance will be listed on the second page of the order, along with information as to whether it is a virtual or in-person appearance.
Failure to appear at that time will very likely result in a warrant for your arrest. If such a warrant is issued, not only can any law enforcement officer place you in immediate custody, but, under certain circumstances, you can be charged with a new offense.
The Circuit Court of Cook County has a Court Reminder System to provide telephone or text message court date reminders to anyone arrested and charged with a felony or misdemeanor offense in the county.
