If you or someone in your family has a criminal court case in Cook County there are two important things to remember.
- Come to court for each scheduled appearance
- Comply with all court-ordered conditions of bond
If you are charged with a criminal offense, you will be required to appear in court for any hearings or proceedings, including status dates.
If you are out on a bond, either a D-Bond (one for which you had to post money) or an I-Bond (one for which you are released on your signature), you have received a bond slip. The date and location of your next required court appearance will be listed in the bottom right hand side of the bond slip
Failure to appear in court will likely result in an arrest warrant, possibly in a new criminal charge, and you will lose forever any money bond you posted.
If you are on bond, make sure you are aware of all of the conditions such as a curfew, a period of confinement to your home, or an order to stay away from a particular person or place. Failure to comply with bond conditions could result in a revocation of the bond, jail custody and a new criminal charge.
