Organizational chart for the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender as of February 2026.

An org chart of the Public Defender's Office. Three people - the First Assistant, the Chief of Staff, and the Operations Director report directly to the Public Defender. Five Deputy Public Defenders and one Deputy of Investigations report to the First Assistant. Seven departments report to the Chief of Staff, these include Administration, HR & Recruitment, Communications, Professional Development, General Counsel, Policy, and Finance. There is also a Deputy Chief of Staff who reports to the Chief of Staff.
