The Cook County Public Defender sent a letter on January 13, 2022 to all members of the Chicago City Council requesting they reject the "Victims Just Ordinance" authorizing the city to bring civil lawsuits against gangs to seize assets.
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced the County’s support of a new Immigration Unit being launched by Public Defender Amy P. Campanelli. After proclaiming his innocence for nearly 20 years, Xavier Walker Wednesday was set to walk out of the Cook County Jail a free man after prosecutors dropped all charges against him in a 2000 murder case.

Monday, April 15th, 2019 thru Friday, April 19th, 2019 is Amnesty Week at the Circuit Court of Cook County. During this time, collection fees are waived for traffic moving violations. This does not include parking or red light camera violations.
